The party is under the Viaduto Negrão de Lima, in Madureira, Rio de Janeiro. It is a Saturday night event; the 36th anniversary edition on May 9, 2026 started at 10 p.m.
Tickets and age
For the 36th anniversary, advance tickets cost R$ 30 and were sold online through Bilheteria Digital. The event is for ages 18 and up. Prices change by edition, so confirm before you go.
A short history
Samba fans founded the Bloco Carnavalesco Pagodão de Madureira under the viaduct on May 11, 1990, and the Saturday charme dance started soon after. In 2000 the project became Projeto Rio Charme, run by the association Espaço Cultural Rio Hip Hop Charme. Since February 2013 the baile has been recognized as intangible cultural heritage of the City of Rio de Janeiro.
What to expect
Rows of people dancing the same steps in sync, DJs playing R&B and new jack swing, and plenty of style and attitude. Nobody requires formal clothes. If you do not know the steps, watch first and join the end of a row.

In 2026 the project “Rio Cheio de Charme” takes the party to Parque Garota de Ipanema, in Arpoador, with free entry from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.: DJ Corello on October 17 and DJ Saddam on November 29.
